Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty in green; IT stocks support

Indian indices continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by the IT and pharma stocks. Dr Reddys Labs, Wipro, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and Asian Paints are among major gainers on the Nifty.

Indian rupee is trading marginally lower at 74.82 per dollar, amid buying seen in the domestic equity market. It opened slightly lower at 74.84 per dollar against previous close of 74.79.

At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38157.09 up by 85.96 points or by 0.23 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11249.7 up by 46.85 points or by 0.42 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 38413.81 and intraday low of 38156.44 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11299.95 and intraday low of 11239.2

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6356.80,+2.77%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 708.30,+2.07%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1414.00,+1.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2311.30,+1.59%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 967.10,+1.39%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 550.50,-2.80%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 535.50,-2.78%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2709.00,-2.53%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 177.65,-2.28%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 367.60,-1.68%), among others.

Among the sectors, TECk index was at 8871.18 up by 73.39 points or by 0.83%. HFCL Ltd. (Rs. 12.50,+4.60%), IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd. (Rs. 2591.00,+4.41%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 1106.50,+4.13%), Dish TV India Ltd. (Rs. 7.59,+3.27%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 284.10,+2.56%),.

_PSU index was at 4962.63 down by -73.75 points or by -1.46%. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 433.35,-4.49%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 36.90,-4.03%), Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 54.95,-3.51%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 34.30,-3.24%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 89.80,-2.97%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2747 , shares advanced were 1263 while 1306 shares declined and 178 were unchanged.
