Domestic stock market ended Wednesday's highly volatile session in the negative territory as investors booked profit in the recent out performers such as Reliance Industries (RIL), and information technology (IT) counters.
Shares of auto major, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), ended 1.6 per cent lower at Rs 6,185.60 apiece on the BSE after the company reported a consolidated loss of Rs 268.3 crore for the June quarter of FY21 (Q1FY21) as compared to profit of Rs 1,376.8 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year.
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei fell on a rising yen and weak start to the earnings season. But the MSCI world equity index, which tracks shares in 49 countries, was up around 0.1 per cent and mixed corporate earnings saw MSCI’s main European Index rise around 0.3 per cent.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 38071.13 down by -421.82 points or by -1.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11202.85 down by -97.7 points or by -0.86 %.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2095.85,-3.75%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 16581.90,-3.02%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 693.95,-2.66%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 604.60,-2.55%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2777.95,-2.23%), among others.
