Sensex surged over 1400 points during the noon trading session markets lifted by banks and IT stocks, on Thursday ahead of Finance Minister Nirmala Sithamran's press conference in which she is expected to announce relief measures to fight the downturn caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 29950.3 up by 1414.52 points or by 4.96 % and then NSE Nifty was at 8692.15 up by 374.3 points or by 4.5 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 30099.91 and intraday low of 28566.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8749.05 and intraday low of 8304.9
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 441.70,+46.65%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 389.15,+19.04%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 351.80,+10.93%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1797.00,+9.34%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 2813.60,+8.81%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 77.65,-2.57%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1068.30,-1.20%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 5016.00,-0.36%), among others.
