Sensex trades lower, Nifty below 12,200

Indian benchmark indices were trading flat with a negative bias as investors weighed the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on global economy after China's Hubei province reported a record rise in the death toll on Thursday.

On the results front, almost 615 companies, including BPCL, Page Industries, Nestle India, and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, are scheduled to announce their December quarter results today.

At 9:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 41492.36 down by -73.54 points or by -0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12219.55 up by 18.35 points or by 0.15 %

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 327.15,+2.23%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1292.00,+1.84%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 107.75,+0.94%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 786.00,+0.63%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 16390.25,+0.62%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1260.55,-1.30%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2236.85,-1.04%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 607.55,-1.04%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1697.75,-0.99%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6987.60,-0.78%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1294 , shares advanced were 655 while 599 shares declined and 40 were unchanged.
