Mid-Session: Sensex falls 245 pts; Yes Bank, DFM Foods most active

Indian benchmarks continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by bankex and IT stocks.

Indian rupee erased all its morning losses and trading flat at 70.88 per dollar versus previous close 70.87.

Shares of Titan Company climbed over 2 percent on BSE in morning trade on January 15 and looked on course to extend the winning run into the third consecutive session.

At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 41706.94 down by -245.69 points or by -0.59 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12292.5 down by -69.8 points or by -0.56 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41969.86 and intraday low of 41677.44 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12350.3 and intraday low of 12284.4

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2442.25,+1.39%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1180.85,+1.20%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 566.85,+0.77%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 124.35,+0.65%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1827.50,+0.49%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1417.15,-4.32%), State Bank of India (Rs. 323.90,-1.22%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 766.10,-1.19%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 531.45,-1.12%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 739.65,-1.07%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 2448.33 up by 27.04 points or by 1.12%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 359.35,+5.77%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 99.70,+4.84%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2558 , shares advanced were 1241 while 1121 shares declined and 196 were unchanged.
