Mid-Session: Markets extend losses; Bharti Infratel tanks

Indian benchmarks extended losses duirng the noon trading session. Bharti Infratel shed over 7 percent while Interglobe Aviation, Bharti Airtel, Grasim Industries, Container Corp and Ambuja Cements are the top losers from the infra space.

The top gainers from Nifty index were Bajaj Auto, TCS, Titan Company, Infosys and Tech Mahindra while the top losers included YES Bank, Bharti Infratel, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Grasim Industries.

The most active stocks included YES Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries and Tat Consultancy Services.

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40609.34 down by -192.83 points or by -0.47 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11981.65 down by -66.55 points or by -0.55 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 40885.03 and intraday low of 40576.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12068.6 and intraday low of 11969.3

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3231.00,+2.24%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2048.00,+1.34%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 697.40,+0.65%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2419.75,+0.58%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 752.25,+0.57%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 60.95,-4.84%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 403.90,-4.02%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 67.20,-3.86%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 140.75,-2.70%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 158.05,-1.83%), among others.

Among the sectors, CDS index was at 24878.74 up by 150.72 points or by 0.61%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 2274.90,+5.19%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 429.60,+1.11%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1162.15,+0.76%), Rajesh Exports Ltd. (Rs. 676.15,+0.73%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 801.00,+0.57%),.

Metal index was at 9563.61 down by -245.74 points or by -2.51%. Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 146.70,-7.97%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 403.90,-4.02%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 37.90,-3.93%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 258.70,-3.61%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 140.75,-2.70%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2450 , shares advanced were 788 while 1469 shares declined and 193 were unchanged.
