Indices reverse losses, Sensex up 100 pts; BHEL rallies 23%

The benchmark BSE Sensex reverse the opening losses and now trading in positive territory, supported by buying in index heavyweights including Yes Bank, Vedanta Ltd., Larsen & Turbo and Bajaj finance, tracking mixed cues from Asian peers.

Among key stocks, Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) surged 25 percent in the early trade on October 18 on the report of government likely to cut its stake in the company. Also, shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises plunged over 6 percent intraday on October 18 after company announced its September quarter numbers on October 17.

At 10:14 AM BSE SENSEX was at 39152.23 up by 100.17 points or by 0.26 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11630 up by 43.65 points or by 0.38 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 39218.6 and intraday low of 38963.6 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11634.9 and intraday low of 11553.15.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 51.15,+7.91%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 151.50,+2.26%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 120.75,+1.81%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1447.85,+1.66%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 4167.30,+1.51%), among others.

Whereas, the top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 381.20,-1.18%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1325.40,-1.07%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 61.30,-1.05%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 436.55,-0.91%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 137.00,-0.83%), among others.

Among sectors, Power index was at 1971.52 up by 39.06 points or by 2.02%. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 54.85,+23.12%), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 21.85,+9.80%), GMR Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 18.50,+5.41%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 64.25,+3.21%), Kalpataru Power Transmissions Ltd. (Rs. 448.25,+1.99%),.

On the other hand, TECk index was at 7528.23 down by -19.67 points or by -0.26%. Dish TV India Ltd. (Rs. 16.60,-4.60%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 255.05,-3.65%), Reliance Communications Ltd. (Rs. 0.72,-2.70%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 381.20,-1.18%), Sun TV Network Ltd. (Rs. 497.00,-1.10%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1849 , shares advanced were 1253 while 509 shares declined and 87 were unchanged.
