Indian benchmarks ended higher on Thursday after UK President Boris Johnson said that Britain and the European Union had agreed a “great” new Brexit deal and urged lawmakers to approve it at the weekend.
The UK PM tweeted "We’ve got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment."
Among individual stocks, TVS Motor Company has reported a 20 percent jump in its Q2FY20 standalone net profit at Rs 255 crore on the back of improvement in the margins. The company had reported a profit of Rs 211.31 in the same quarter last year. Revenue of the company was down 13 percent at Rs 4,347.8 crore versus Rs 4,993.47 crore.
The 30-share benchmark index closed trading at 39052.06 up by 453.07 points or by 1.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11586.35 up by 122.35 points or by 1.07 %.
During the day's trade, Sensex touched intraday high of 39104.69 and intraday low of 38557.43 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11599.1 and intraday low of 11439.65.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 47.40,+15.19%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 61.95,+10.72%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 138.15,+9.82%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1339.80,+5.13%), State Bank of India (Rs. 265.45,+3.73%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1089.45,-1.04%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 148.15,-1.04%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2030.70,-0.74%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 197.70,-0.50%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1601.00,-0.31%), among others.
Among the sectors, Auto index was at 17709.05 up by 504.33 points or by 2.93%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 138.15,+9.82%), Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 108.60,+9.31%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 20518.00,+6.66%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 437.15,+6.26%), Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 457.30,+4.63%),.
