The frontline benchmark indices have been trading more than one per cent high in the late afternoon session led by gains in financials. The Indian rupee extended the gains after a flat start on Friday morning on the back foreign fund inflows and strong domestic market. It is trading at day's high around 69.05 per US dollar. The shares of TTK Prestige fell as much as 2.8 percent in early trade after CLSA downgraded the stock to sell from buy. CLSA maintained TTK Prestige's target price at Rs 9,000. Valuations are now factoring in future growth triggers, but don't leave much scope for incremental upside, according to the brokerage. It cited a sharp stock run-up as the reason for the downgrade.
At 14:29 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 38206.05 up by 451.16 points or by 1.19 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11472.7 up by 129.45 points or by 1.14 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 38218.03 and intraday low of 37760.23 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11478.05 and intraday low of 11370.8.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1329.10,+4.61%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 193.45,+3.20%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2049.10,+3.04%), State Bank of India (Rs. 299.35,+2.82%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 397.65,+2.51%), among others. The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 335.75,-2.07%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1703.00,-1.98%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 246.30,-1.42%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 240.60,-1.13%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 89.20,-0.94%), among others.
Among sectors, Bankex index was at 33063.59 up by 662.22 points or by 2.04%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1329.10,+4.61%), State Bank of India (Rs. 299.35,+2.82%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 397.65,+2.51%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 92.15,+2.16%), Bank of Baroda (Rs. 118.90,+1.97%),. On the flip side, FMCG index was at 11718.85 down by -100.64 points or by -0.85%. Kwality Ltd. (Rs. 7.04,-4.99%), Prataap Snacks Ltd. (Rs. 901.05,-3.01%), Future Consumer Ltd. (Rs. 44.90,-2.60%), KRBL Ltd. (Rs. 361.60,-2.42%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. (Rs. 132.60,-2.28%),.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2895 , shares advanced were 1353 while 1346 shares declined and 196 were unchanged.
