Indian equity markets may open higher on Thursday, tracking bullish trend across SGX Nifty Index Futures and mixed cues across other Asian markets. Overseas, Asian stocks were trading mixed, mirroring weakness at Wall Street in overnight trade, as investor weighed ongoing trade war between US and China. In a fresh development, China’s commerce ministry has termed the US actions “completely unacceptable” and threatened to file complain to the World Trade Organisation, Reuters reported. Back home, bullish trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for July delivery, which were trading at 10,979.50, up by 32.00 point or 0.29 per cent, at 10:54 AM Singapore time, also indicated a positive opening for local bourses. On the economy front, IIP numbers for May will be released today which may give some indication about economic growth. On the corporate front, shares of HCL Technologies will remain in focus as its board will consider share buyback today. Among others, traders will also keep an eye on shares of IT firm Cyient and Karnaraka Bank as they will announce their quarterly numbers later in the day.
On Wednesday, Indian benchmarks ended flat with positive bias amid weakness in their key Asian peers. The 30-share benchmark ended 36265.93 up by 26.31 points or by 0.07 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 10948.3 up by 1.05 points or by 0.01 per cent.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 134.03 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 30291.40 Crore.
On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 175156 with a total turnover of Rs. 16056.64 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 817533 with a total turnover of Rs. 58775.55 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 6434889 with a total turnover of Rs. 650161.98 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 813740 with a total turnover of Rs. 65514.02 Crore.
As on July 11, 2018, the FIIs stood as net buyer in equity market, but net seller in debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5489.52 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 279.76 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5230.81 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 387.01 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 258.71 Crore and Rs. -107.25.
