Mid-Session: Sensex surges 385 points; Nifty above 11k

Indian benchmarks were trading robust during the noon trading session with Sensex trading higher by over 300 points and Nifty above 11,000 mark supported by HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and ICICI Bank.

The share price of oil-to-telecom major Reliance Industries was on an upward journey for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday, which helped it become the second company to hit $100 billion market capitalisation after TCS.

At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 36650.87 up by 384.94 points or by 1.06 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 11065.95 up by 117.65 points or by 1.07 per cent.

In the robust trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 36699.53 and intraday low of 36422.08 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11078.3 and intraday low of 10999.65.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1085.60,+4.75%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 382.45,+2.99%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1965.95,+1.96%), State Bank of India (Rs. 263.55,+1.80%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1297.90,+1.79%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1295.70,-1.87%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 918.30,-1.32%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3520.00,-0.58%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 371.30,-0.52%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1972.95,-0.34%), among others.

Among the sectors, Oil&Gas index was at 14243.69 up by 313.93 points or by 2.25%. Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1085.60,+4.75%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 273.95,+3.36%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 379.70,+3.31%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 158.70,+2.29%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 159.60,+1.24%),.

On the flip side, IT index was at 14324.73 down by -95.6 points or by -0.66%. 8K Miles Software Services Ltd. (Rs. 352.95,-6.63%), MIC Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 3.42,-5.00%), D-Link (India) Ltd. (Rs. 84.20,-2.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1295.70,-1.87%), Ltd. (Rs. 742.40,-1.73%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2596 , shares advanced were 1465 while 989 shares declined and 142 were unchanged.
