Axis Bank gains nearly 4% on sharp turnaround in Q2

Shares of Axis Bank rose nearly 4 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the lender posted a 83 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 790 crore for September quarter, compared to Rs 432 crore profit in the year-ago quarter.

Driven by robust Q2, shares of the bank gained as much as 3.76 per cent and touched an intra-day high of Rs 632.90 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

In a similar trend, stocks of the lender were trading at Rs 621.95 apiece, up 1.85 per cent, on the National Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, the broader benchmark BSE Sensex was trading at 34,969.41, down 42.24 points, or 0.12 per cent, from the previous close on the BSE at 09:35 hours.
