Sensex Nifty in red; M&M, HCL top losers

Equity benchmark Sensex continued to trade lower tracking losses in index majors M&M, HCL, and HDFC Bank amid weak cues from global markets.

Exchange data showed that foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 821.86 crore on a net basis on Wednesday.

According to traders, weak cues from global markets led domestic benchmark indices lower.

Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul were trading on a negative note in mid-session deals.

Stock exchanges in the US too ended in the red in overnight session amid uncertainty over US economic stimulus.

At 10:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40720.43 down by -74.31 points or by -0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11933.35 down by -37.7 points or by -0.31 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41048.05 and intraday low of 40541.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12025.45 and intraday low of 11906.35

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2103.25,+1.54%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3094.30,+1.35%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 67.90,+1.34%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 477.00,+1.30%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 631.45,+1.22%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 817.25,-3.73%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 863.75,-2.96%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 406.60,-1.63%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2771.00,-1.38%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1124.20,-1.05%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 1720.88 up by 28.51 points or by 1.68%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 908.60,+3.80%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 591.70,+3.76%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 166.00,+2.56%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 259.50,+2.33%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 261.60,+1.85%),.

TECk index was at 9965.41 down by -140.73 points or by -1.39%. MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 1487.85,-4.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 817.25,-3.73%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 863.75,-2.96%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 342.00,-2.33%), Bharti Infratel Ltd. (Rs. 185.85,-1.90%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2213 , shares advanced were 1238 while 825 shares declined and 150 were unchanged.
