Mid-Session: Sensex slumps 300 points; Nifty 11,900

Indian benchmark indices were trading lower during the noon trading session amid selling seen in the IT, pharma and FMCG indices, while bank and auto indices are trading in the green.

Tata Elxsi share price was up 2 percent on October 15 after the company reported a 58.3 percent increase in net profit to Rs 78.8 crore for the September 2020 quarter. It had registered a net profit of Rs 49.8 crore in the year-ago period.

Indian rupee is trading marginally higher at 73.26 per dollar, amid selling seen in the domestic equity market. It opened flat at 73.32 per dollar against Wednesday's close of 73.29.

At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40495.08 down by -299.66 points or by -0.73 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11891.2 down by -79.85 points or by -0.67 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41048.05 and intraday low of 40422.79 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12025.45 and intraday low of 11872.85

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2113.95,+2.06%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 479.05,+1.73%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 381.75,+1.65%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3089.00,+1.18%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1233.05,+0.79%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 815.20,-3.97%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 858.00,-3.61%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2742.25,-2.40%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 403.65,-2.35%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3296.00,-2.24%), among others.

Among the sectors, Auto index was at 18290.23 up by 123.68 points or by 0.68%. Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 453.60,+3.68%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 133.95,+2.49%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3374.10,+1.93%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1405.05,+1.87%), Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs. 74.15,+1.30%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2675 , shares advanced were 1247 while 1249 shares declined and 179 were unchanged.
