Sensex, Nifty higher; Sun Pharma top gainer

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the morning deals led by gains in index-heavyweights Sun Pharma, Reliance Industries, Infosys and L&T amid sustained foreign fund inflow.

Exchange data showed that foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 416.28 crore on a net basis on Thursday.

According to traders, buying in index majors led benchmarks higher despite weak cues from global markets.

Sustained foreign fund inflow also supported key indices in morning session, they said.

At 10:22 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38413.93 up by 103.44 points or by 0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11345.6 up by 45.15 points or by 0.4 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 38540.57 and intraday low of 38392.14 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11361.4 and intraday low of 11329.05

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 533.90,+2.52%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2148.15,+1.22%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1819.50,+0.96%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 999.60,+0.91%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 636.35,+0.80%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2765.70,-1.62%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 718.00,-1.03%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6662.20,-1.01%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 443.75,-0.96%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 77.85,-0.95%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 1660.65 up by 17.35 points or by 1.06%. Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 242.75,+10.74%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 642.35,+6.97%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 235.00,+1.51%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 228.15,+1.22%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 374.20,+0.88%),.

Auto index was at 17593.37 down by -148.39 points or by -0.84%. Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 13952.75,-3.13%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 21029.45,-2.96%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 128.15,-2.25%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2765.70,-1.62%), Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 430.65,-1.37%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2369 , shares advanced were 1245 while 989 shares declined and 135 were unchanged.
