Indices trade flat; HCL Tech top gainer

Benchmark indices erased early losses and trading flat supported by the auto and PSU banking stocks, while pharma stocks remained under pressure.

Indian rupee ended marginally lower at 74.82 per dollar, amid volatility seen in the domestic equity market. It opened flat at 74.77 per dollar against previous close of 74.77 and traded in the range of 74.76.74.93.

At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38393.65 down by -13.36 points or by -0.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11315.7 down by -6.8 points or by -0.06 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 38414.37 and intraday low of 38125.81 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11322 and intraday low of 11242.65

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 717.70,+5.00%), State Bank of India (Rs. 202.85,+3.97%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2781.95,+2.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 688.75,+2.06%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6729.15,+1.22%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1339.50,-1.84%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 535.05,-1.11%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 952.65,-0.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2258.75,-0.90%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1058.20,-0.78%), among others.

Among others, Auto index was at 17632.58 up by 368.48 points or by 2.13%. Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 116.80,+8.70%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 14382.30,+8.46%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 22261.10,+3.85%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 169.10,+3.84%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2781.95,+2.55%),.

Metal index was at 8573.08 down by -78.29 points or by -0.9%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 232.65,-5.75%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 175.10,-2.10%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 123.60,-1.63%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 34.95,-1.55%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 208.60,-1.14%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3039 , shares advanced were 1534 while 1321 shares declined and 184 were unchanged.
