Sensex, Nifty in red; January WPI Inflation at 3.1%

Trimming all the early gains, Indian benchmark indices slipped in red during the noon trading session. Meanwhile, January WPI Inflation stood at 3.1 percent versus 2.59 percent, MoM. Food inflation at 10.12 percent versus 11.05 percent, primary articles inflation at 10.01 percent versus 11.46 percent and manufactured products inflation at 0.34 percent against -0.25 percent, MoM.

Further, Jindal Poly Films share price gained 9 percent on February 14 after company approved the expansion plan and reporting better numbers for the quarter ended December 2019.

At 12:35 hours, the 30-share benchark index was trading at 41392.69 down by -67.1 points or by -0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12160.05 down by -14.6 points or by -0.12 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41702.36 and intraday low of 41183.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12246.7 and intraday low of 12097.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 561.20,+3.96%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1497.00,+1.56%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 836.35,+1.01%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3166.80,+1.00%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 617.65,+0.81%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1200.05,-2.45%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 187.20,-1.65%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 208.45,-1.65%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 735.65,-1.61%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 103.80,-1.47%), among others.

Among the sectors, CDS index was at 27086.52 up by 122.03 points or by 0.45%. Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 818.65,+2.20%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 476.00,+1.80%), Symphony Ltd. (Rs. 1345.30,+0.92%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 280.65,+0.88%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 689.50,+0.55%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2556 , shares advanced were 1048 while 1329 shares declined and 179 were unchanged.
