The domestic benchmark indices have trimmed most of their morning losses and are trading marginally lower in the afternoon session weighed by automobiles and pharmaceutical stocks. Most of the metal stocks are trading in the red. Many among them are trading near their 52-week low. The rupee is trading on a firm note having risen to 71.14 against the US dollar so far in intra-day trade. The domestic unit had settled at 71.31 against the greenback on Friday. Oil prices fell by around 1 percent on Monday as drilling activity in the United States, the world's largest oil producer, picked up and financial markets were pulled down by trade concerns. The shares of Dewan Housing fell nearly 6 percent before recovering as investors reacted to buzz of I-T department notice to the firm. The income tax department sent a notice to DHFL under Section 131 of I-T Act. Further, the company has been asked to furnish books of accounts.
At 12:27 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 36448.81 down by -97.67 points or by -0.27 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10898.45 down by -45.15 points or by -0.41 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36588.41 and intraday low of 36309.28 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10930.9 and intraday low of 10857.1.
