Indian benchmark indices are trading on a flat note with some positive bias on Friday amid mixed Asian cues. The shares of Eveready Industries India rallied 18 per cent to Rs 214 per share in early trade on reports that promoter B M Khaitan is likely to sell the flagship company, a leader in dry cell batteries and flashlights. Realty shares were in the red with the Nifty Realty index down 1.23 per cent at 236.95 in Friday morning trading session. The shares of Sobha was trading down 3.66 per cent, Unitech down at 2.44 per cent. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was trading over 1 per cent lower after the company earned its highest-ever net profit of Rs 8,105 crore in the seasonally weak third quarter (Q3) of 2018-19 (FY19).
At 11:19 hours, the BSE SENSEX was at 36048.67 down by -57.83 points or by -0.16 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10805.5 down by -16.1 points or by -0.15 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36214.26 and intraday low of 36037.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10850.15 and intraday low of 10801.2.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 294.00,+1.54%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 197.55,+1.26%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 145.35,+1.25%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 447.15,+0.74%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 483.55,+0.68%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 95.95,-2.14%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1850.00,-2.02%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 182.90,-1.43%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1546.00,-1.31%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1372.50,-1.28%), among others.
Sectorally, FMCG index was at 11951.64 up by 57.12 points or by 0.48%. Eveready Industries India Ltd. (Rs. 206.50,+13.77%), KRBL Ltd. (Rs. 324.05,+10.67%), Kohinoor Foods Ltd. (Rs. 37.20,+9.41%), Andrew Yule & Company Ltd. (Rs. 22.05,+4.75%), Emami Ltd. (Rs. 435.45,+3.14%). On the flip side, Realty index was at 1835.44 down by -24.63 points or by -1.32%. Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 26.95,-4.09%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 458.00,-3.75%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 180.20,-1.72%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 453.05,-1.62%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 87.60,-1.02%).
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2266 , shares advanced were 1041 while 1090 shares declined and 135 were unchanged.
