Nifty over 10827 in early trade, Jet Airways jumps 3%

The benchmark indices rose in early trade Friday following value-based buying in auto, oil & gas, and metal sectors amid positive trend at other Asian markets and rising rupee. On the macro front, the rupee appreciated by 7 paise to 70.34 against the US dollar in opening trade. Brent crude futures were trading 0.21 per cent lower at USD 61.55 per barrel. The shares of Jet Airways jumped 3 per cent in early trade on Friday after media reports suggested that the beleaguered firm is planning to approach Tata Group for stake-sale talks. ITC shares gained 1.88 percent in morning after global brokerage house CLSA retained buy call on the stock and raised price target to Rs 400 from Rs 390 earlier due to unchanged in tobacco taxes.

At 10:17 hours, the BSE SENSEX was at 36121.52 up by 15.02 points or by 0.04 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10827.65 up by 6.05 points or by 0.06 per cent.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 293.85,+1.49%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 448.90,+1.14%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 144.90,+0.94%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1994.50,+0.78%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 196.50,+0.72%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1854.50,-1.78%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 331.35,-1.75%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1375.00,-1.10%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 925.80,-1.07%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 97.30,-0.76%), among others.

Sector wise, Metal index was at 11192.97 up by 59.33 points or by 0.53%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 206.60,+1.32%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 196.50,+0.72%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 291.45,+0.62%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 91.60,+0.55%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 481.80,+0.31%). On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 7058.8 down by -59.36 points or by -0.83%. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1854.50,-1.78%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 331.35,-1.75%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 797.90,-1.65%), Just Dial Ltd. (Rs. 484.00,-1.27%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 891.90,-1.23%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1896 , shares advanced were 1005 while 792 shares declined and 99 were unchanged.
