Indian benchmark indices are trading lower in the afternoon session on Friday amid mixed Asian cues. IT index is down around half a percent, with TCS dragging around 1 percent. Banks, consumption and metals were the other big gainers. Praj Industries shares rallied 9 percent to hit a 52-week high of Rs 150 on Friday after the company expanded its bio-energy basket by adding compressed bio-gas (CBG) technology. The shares of Lemon Tree Hotels added 3.5 percent intraday Friday after company signed a license agreement for resort property located at Dindi, Andhra Pradesh. FMCG shares were trading in the negative terrain in the Friday afternoon trading session. The shares of Marico was down at 1.33 per cent and Godrej Consumer Products down at 0.95 per cent.
At 12:18 hours, the BSE SENSEX was trading at 35952.85 down by -153.65 points or by -0.43 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10771.95 down by -49.65 points or by -0.46 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36214.26 and intraday low of 35897.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10850.15 and intraday low of 10757.65.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 294.30,+1.64%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 197.05,+1.00%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 148.85,+0.74%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 144.55,+0.70%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 445.10,+0.28%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 95.30,-2.80%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 180.90,-2.51%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1844.30,-2.32%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1368.40,-1.57%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1542.00,-1.56%), among others.
Among sectors, Metal index was at 11199.61 up by 65.97 points or by 0.59%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 206.85,+1.45%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 92.40,+1.43%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 197.05,+1.00%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 292.10,+0.85%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 62.95,+0.32%). On the flip side, IT index was at 13946.45 down by -157.13 points or by -1.11%. Brightcom Group Ltd. (Rs. 3.10,-5.49%), MIC Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 1.11,-4.31%), Allsec Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 190.00,-4.19%), 8K Miles Software Services Ltd. (Rs. 154.75,-2.89%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 549.00,-2.81%).
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2486 , shares advanced were 1012 while 1304 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
