Mid-Session: Sensex trading higher amid firm rupee, falling crude prices

Indian benchmarks continued to trade higher during the noon trading session amid fall in global crude oil prices and strengthening rupee against the US dollar. Asian stocks edged up on Thursday as investors grappled with shifting indications on Sino-American trade talks and prospects for a pause in Federal Reserve tightening.

At 12:42 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 35502.42 up by 190.29 points or by 0.54 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 10651.6 up by 50.45 points or by 0.48 per cent. Sensex touched intraday high of 35553.46 and intraday low of 35415.71 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10656.65 and intraday low of 10615.8.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1298.75,+9.92%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 370.70,+1.87%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1318.70,+1.83%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7327.10,+1.63%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 677.50,+1.39%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 165.90,-1.43%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1552.00,-1.13%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 329.40,-0.69%), State Bank of India (Rs. 273.85,-0.69%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 507.80,-0.64%), among others.

Among the sectors, Bank index was at 29533.65 up by 358.01 points or by 1.23%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1300.50,+10.07%), Bank of Baroda (Rs. 105.75,+0.62%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 602.65,+0.38%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 348.05,+0.14%),.

On the flip side, Oil&Gas index was at 12957.68 down by -95.66 points or by -0.73%. GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 335.55,-3.81%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 248.55,-1.80%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 178.40,-1.25%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 208.65,-0.97%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1120.20,-0.29%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2523 , shares advanced were 1090 while 1270 shares declined and 163 were unchanged.
