Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty firm; Vedanta, Cipla top losers

Indian benchmarks continued to trade in green during the noon trading session amid firm global cues. Asian shares ticked up in early Tuesday trade, supported by Wall Street gains although sentiment was tempered ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, the first major electoral test of President Donald Trump’s big tax cuts and hostile trade policies.

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmarks index was trading at 35100.48 up by 149.56 points or by 0.43 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 10557.3 up by 33.3 points or by 0.32 per cent.

In the positive trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 35196.03 and intraday low of 35018.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10600.25 and intraday low of 10539.35.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 106.35,+4.26%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 197.40,+4.09%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 217.10,+3.21%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1931.95,+2.22%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 356.90,+2.03%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 207.95,-6.54%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 604.30,-3.20%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1456.10,-2.39%), State Bank of India (Rs. 290.50,-1.63%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 276.60,-1.07%), among others.

In BSE, BSETECk index was at 7125.06 up by 80.18 points or by 1.14%. Infibeam Avenues Ltd. (Rs. 42.55,+5.19%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 376.20,+3.08%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1931.15,+2.18%), Tata Communications Ltd. (Rs. 504.00,+2.12%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 836.90,+2.00%),.

In BSE, BSE_IT index was at 14244.57 up by 156.33 points or by 1.11%. 8K Miles Software Services Ltd. (Rs. 79.75,+10.00%), Trigyn Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 102.70,+7.82%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2491 , shares advanced were 1341 while 990 shares declined and 160 were unchanged.
