Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE’s Nifty 50 fell amid selloff in global markets.
In US, the S&P 500 ended Wednesday with a loss of 3.29% and the Nasdaq Composite 4.08%, while the Dow shed 2.2%. Oil prices dropped to extend big losses from the previous session as global stock markets suffered a rout.
European markets are broadly lower today with shares in London off the most. The FTSE 100 is down 1.41% while France's CAC 40 is off 1.21% and Germany's DAX is lower by 0.91%.
Back home, at 14:09 hours, BSE SENSEX was at 34158.01 down by -602.88 points or by -1.73 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10286.05 down by -174.05 points or by -1.66 %.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 14039.26 down by -243.51 points or by -1.7 %. While, the BSE SMLCAP was at 13841.12 down by -156.74 points or by -1.12 %.
The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 34325.18 and intraday low of 33723.53. The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10335.95 and intraday low of 10138.6.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 156.85,+5.52%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 240.75,+2.86%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1106.00,+0.33%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 262.50,-5.61%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 556.00,-4.64%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 732.45,-4.15%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 672.75,-3.93%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1591.25,-2.94%), among others.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2724, shares advanced were 847 while 1736 shares declined and 141 were unchanged.
