Bulls take charge on D-street; Nifty jumps 100 points

Indian benchmarks continued to gain momentum during the noon trading session on firm rupee and positive global cues. Intense buying is visible across major sectors, with banks, auto, metals and pharmaceuticals leading the gainers’ chart.

On the global front, shares across most of Asia rose on Friday on expectations that the United States and China could launch a fresh round of trade talks, and as a surprisingly sharp interest rate hike in crisis-hit Turkey supported the lira and global risk appetite.

But stocks in China fell amid lingering uncertainty over the outlook for trade.

At 13:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38024.25 up by 306.29 points or by 0.81 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 11481.7 up by 111.8 points or by 0.98 per cent.

In the positive trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 38058.92 and intraday low of 37859.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11485.3 and intraday low of 11430.55.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 234.00,+4.58%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 326.55,+3.85%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 200.20,+3.62%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1880.65,+3.04%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1327.00,+2.73%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 277.70,-1.28%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 734.70,-1.08%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1621.10,-0.42%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 327.45,-0.37%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2037.00,-0.33%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 2050.99 up by 49.65 points or by 2.48%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 466.10,+4.31%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 142.45,+3.52%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 209.50,+3.48%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 225.60,+2.90%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 30.15,+2.20%),.

On the flip side, IT index was at 15665.46 down by -80.3 points or by -0.51%. Cyient Ltd. (Rs. 748.00,-2.41%), Tanla Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 38.50,-1.79%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 1130.00,-1.45%), Intense Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 53.00,-1.40%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1071.70,-1.22%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2754 , shares advanced were 1783 while 797 shares declined and 174 were unchanged.
