Indian equities may see flat opening on Friday, tracking muted trend across SGX Nifty Index Futures and tepid cues from global peers. Overseas, Asian stocks were trading mostly lower, following mixed closing at Wall Street, as investors weigh escalating global trade tension. Back home, muted trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for August delivery, which were trading at 11,491.50, up by 3.50 points or 0.03 per cent, at 8.15 AM India time, also indicated a flat opening for local bourses. In absence of any major cues from domestic or global front, the market may see stock specific movement as more than hundreds of companies will announce their quarterly results today. On the economy front, the Index of Industrial Production or IIP for June will be announced today. On the earnings front, big companies like SBI, UCO Bank, United Bank, Andhra Bank, GAIL, PCJ, Voltas, Sun TV, Apollo Hospitals, DLF and Glenmark, will report their quarterly earnings later in the day.
On Thursday, Indian benchmark indices continued gaining streak and closed at record high amid sustained buying by domestic and foreign investors while rally in realty, metal and banking space also boosted market sentiment. Also, strong cues from global markets and healthy corporate earnings report also injected positivity in the market. The 30-share benchmark index Sensex crossed the key 38,000 level for the first time ever and closed trade at 38024.37, up by 136.81 points or by 0.36 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 11470.7, up by 20.7 points or by 0.18 per cent.

Total numbers of contracts for index options were 13859610 with a total turnover of Rs. 1536140.79 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 755439 with a total turnover of Rs. 57694.51 Crore.
As on August 09, 2018, the FIIs stood as net buyer in both equity and debt markets. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4312.90 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1025.86 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 3395.97 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 510.28 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 916.93 Crore and Rs. 515.58.
