Equity benchmarks have maintained their solid momentum, with the Sensex trading well above 38,000-mark, while the Nifty is trading around 11,470, on Thursday following continued interest from foreign investors.
Among the shares, ICICI Bank is trading higher after it issued clarification on bad loans. Morgan Stanley has called it its 'top pick in Asia financials'.
Globally, Asian stocks traded mixed as China hit back against the Trump administration’s latest tariffs and tensions ratcheted up between the US and Russia. The yen edged higher, while oil held on to its losses. Oil prices stabilized after a sharp fall in the previous session.
European markets are lower today with shares in London off the most. The FTSE 100 is down 0.67% while France's CAC 40 is off 0.25% and Germany's DAX is lower by 0.06%.
Back home, at 14:11 hours, BSE SENSEX was at 38026.66 up by 139.1 points or by 0.37 % and NSE Nifty was at 11472.2 up by 22.2 points or by 0.19 %.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 16356.73 up by 111.4 points or by 0.69 %. While, the BSE SMLCAP was at 16919.36 up by 51.16 points or by 0.3 %.
The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 38076.23 and intraday low of 37939.28. The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11495.2 and intraday low of 11454.1.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 332.50,+4.49%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 612.95,+2.77%), State Bank of India (Rs. 316.50,+2.54%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 281.90,+2.05%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 228.00,+1.45%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 370.80,-3.59%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 168.90,-1.75%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2114.25,-1.06%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1280.25,-0.78%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1989.70,-0.63%), among others.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2863, shares advanced were 1412 while 1315 shares declined and 136 were unchanged.
