Sensex trades marginally higher, Nifty hovers around 10,970; TCS, HUL are top gainers

The market has extended its gains from the flat levels and there has been additional selling pressure in PSU banks, metals and auto names, while IT stocks continued to stand tall. The Nifty midcap index is down around 0.40 percent.

Oil prices fell after US said it would consider requests from some countries to be exempted from November sanctions. The Indian rupee was trading flat against the US dollar.

At 14:07 hours, BSE SENSEX was at 36313.31 up by 73.69 points or by 0.2 % and NSE Nifty was at 10953.7 up by 6.45 points or by 0.06 %.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36341.08 and intraday low of 36169.7. The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10976.65 and intraday low of 10923.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1980.10,+5.49%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1329.70,+2.09%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1713.40,+1.55%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3131.90,+1.39%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 374.00,+0.92%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 265.75,-4.41%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 217.40,-3.78%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 269.05,-2.31%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 556.80,-2.08%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 267.85,-2.03%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2712, shares advanced were 1067 while 1482 shares declined and 163 were unchanged.
